Winter Writings: Day 85

The daffodils gather at my fence
their sunny bonnets nod and smile as
they share the gossip of the day.
Meanwhile, the cherry tree dons
her fairy tale gown and,
with sparrows attending,
she moves to hug the sky hello.
Last night's rain left scattered diamonds
on each new blade of grass
and everywhere lingers
the perfume of spring,
that gently fills the air and
smooths away grey winter's tired wrinkles.
